Road Traffic Accidents & How To Stop them Post-Covid Lockdown
It is a matter of considerable concern that an unfortunate consequence of extended Covid-19 lockdown is likely to mean a significant increase in road traffic accidents.
This, in turn, will result in an increase of personal injury cases as lockdown eases and the economy opens. In an effort to avoid this increase in accidents, an attitude of “practise makes perfect” is becoming evermore popular. Drivers who haven’t been on the road since the beginning of lockdown are more likely to experience diminishing awareness while driving, which can result in a greater chance of accidents occurring. Understandably, this creates concern that a mass return to work might lead to an avalanche of road traffic accidents and personal injury cases. If you are a road user, try to take personal responsibility to limit the incidents of road accidents by practising simple awareness of the increased risk associated with driving after an extended absence from it.
How To Drive Safely Post-Lockdown
After taking an extended break from driving post Covid-19 lockdown, you can practise safe driving by taking the following steps:- Reducing speed
- Increasing vigilance and awareness of risk.
- Travelling with a second driver.
- Taking one or two refresher driving lessons would also be beneficial
